Webpage Guru

I don’t want to speak too soon but I seem to have managed to alter the blog template to make the text area wider, through a technical process of mucking about with likely looking parameters (in many ways similar to network administration). Best of all nothing seems to be broken.

If you have problems viewing this then let me know and I’ll re-tweak it.

Next challenge — alter the background colour to an eye-watering bath sponge yellow.

  1. Welcome to the wonderful world of CSS!

The Dizwell Blog is all done on Blogger, too, but I don’t think you’d usually spot it, thanks to cunning CSS-mucking-about techniques.

  2. Thanks Guys,

You are now all officially CSS consultants to the Oracle Sponge blog. Remuneration is minimal, but the prestige is enormous.

My word verification is “ssanpldy” … not bad, but the other day I had “bumtk” which was my favourite so far.

  3. Funnily enough I made mine wider the other day too by messing about with the width parts of the code…then came here to ask you a question about temp stuff…when I find that post we were discussing the other day…only to find this was your latest post!

  4. sheesh, what kind of mad fool would go with a yellow background. :)

word verification is yebaphid – the meanest aphid in the south – or something

  5. Great minds thinking alike, that’s what that was Jeff.

And “yellow” does indeed = sponge … except for Barbara Cartland I expect. I managed to make the background to the text yellow, and the sight of it against the green produced a small involuntary whimper from the back of my throat. Maybe green will be OK.

I’ve given up on difficult word verifications … if it looks tricky I just leeve it blank and try to publish, this getting an easier option (eventually). mlqtq

  6. Hello, I just passed by to check out some oracle blogs when I came across yours. I have a blog of my own and have successfully also widened the width.. and it took me an hour or two to do it (seems to me my web editing have since degraded to the puniest of levels after working on oracle for a few years) Hope your tweaking didnt take too long. Anyway, you got your result, so… Congratulations! :)
